Angad Arts Hotel Debuts New Exhibit

The colorful 146-room Angad Arts Hotel is rotating its quarterly art exhibit on March 5, featuring local art duo Evan and Stacey Smith’s Voids. The Smith’s exhibit focuses on the union of art and science by using various media and technology to create their work. Voids will be located in the First Floor Gallery located at the entrance of the hotel. All the art found in the exhibit is for sale and can be purchased at The Angad’s front desk.

“The Angad in itself is an experiential hotel,” says Vanessa Rudloff, Art Relations Manager at Angad Arts Hotel. “The work of Evan and Stacey Smith embodies this; with light and layers, they create pieces that encourage a guest to experience the work, participating deeper than merely viewing.”

Voids is a body of work that portrays the human experience found in childhood memories, difficult conversations, and social relationships. In these works, Evan and Stacey are continuing a journey of self-discovery while providing anecdotes they have experienced along the way. Voids will be on display from March 5, 2021 through May 2021.

“These narratives, left to interpretations, presents ideas surrounding relationships with families, individuals, and ourselves as both interconnected and isolating,” says Evan and Stacey Smith. “Not limited to the objects themselves Voids uses both metonymy and metaphysics to explore these themes.”

Tonight’s opening reception is from 5pm-8pm. Social distancing and local COVID-19 guidelines will be observed at the reception. Admission is free. More information on the reception can be found here.

Black Nonpareil is the hotel’s bi-annual exhibit, will continue to be on display until April 25, 2021. The exhibit consists of a total of 29 pieces of artwork from 17 local artists. Most of the artwork is featured in the 12th floor lobby, with some additional works on the first floor and in ART Bar. For more information on Angad Arts Hotel, visit www.angadartshotel.com
