If you need more proof, St. Louis’ chapter of the Fashion Group International celebrates its 85th anniversary this year! 

FGI St. Louis is the third global chapter of this New York City based organization. Founded in 1936, St. Louis’ presence in the fashion industry is well established because of this charter. FGI is a global, non-profit, professional organization with 5,000 members in the fashion industry including apparel, accessories, beauty and home. The FGI mission is to be a preeminent authority on the business of fashion and design and to help its members become more effective in their careers. To celebrate this milestone birthday, FGI St. Louis is hosting a 3-day, event-filled fashion symposium, highlighting fashion past, present and future. A glamorous blast from the past on October 6th will include the opening of FGI Saint Louis’s archive exhibit, a book reading from ‘Ready to Wear’ by Valerie Battle Kienzle, and an intimate cocktail reception at the Designing Block. On October 7th, a premier of the prestigious FGI Global Fashion Presentation: Communiqué will showcase curated stories and images from Spring/Summer 2022 runways. The symposium will then focus on the future of the Saint Louis fashion industry on October 8th with a discussion among STL’s changemakers, designers, manufacturers, educators, and industry thought-leaders. These events will be presented virtually as well as in-person (local and FGI guidelines allowing) to offer a unique, hybrid-style celebration.
