Human Rights Campaign Gala 2024 Celebrates People, Purpose, and Progress in Inspirational Evening
On Saturday, October 26th, I had the privilege of attending the Annual Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Gala. Dress was black tie, festive or casual. Invited by both renowned realtor Ted Wight and artist and gallery owner Charlie Houska, our table chose a mix of black tie attire and casual. Might I say that we looked debonair and smashing.
The fundraising dinner’s goal was to help fuel the work for LGBTQ+ equality, and to gather together in solidarity. In addition to our table of ten, hundreds of supporters filled the ballroom of downtown’s tony Hyatt Regency Hotel. The gathering was there to celebrate this year’s mission, PEOPLE, PURPOSE, PROGRESS. The event raised thousands of dollars in support of HRC’s mission – to support, protect and defend every member of the community.
Seated in the front row, we had an amazing view of the program, which featured some truly inspiring speakers, HRC President Kelly Robinson delivered a powerful and passionate speech about the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights. Comedian Dana Goldberg brought her wit to the stage, adding a lighthearted and poignant touch to the evening. It was an unforgettable night of advocacy, laughter, and community, leaving me both inspired and hopeful.
About the Human Rights Campaign
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is leading the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. They have spent more than 40 years creating the most powerful movement for equality the United States has ever seen. But despite this progress, the most marginalized in the country are still suffering from violence, discrimination, and fear. The goal of HRC is to ensure that all LGBTQ+ people, especially those are trans, people of color and HIV+, are treated as full and equal citizens withing their movement across the country and around the world.
