New Piazza Coming to The Hill

“Today is a great day on the Hill, a great day for residents, a great day for St Louis, and a great day for the region,” said Bill Frisella, President of Metro Electric Supply Metro Lighting and one of the many benefactors and speakers at the groundbreaking of Piazza Imo on the Hill.
A group of distinguished citizens and businesses have formed a committee to build an Italian inspired Piazza in front of St. Ambrose Church on the Hill in St. Louis. The Piazza will be called Piazza Imo. The 11,000 square foot Piazza will become a central gathering place to welcome visitors from all neighborhoods to explore the Hill. The inviting outdoor space will also be used for educational programming.
Major Piazza Imo benefactors include; Ed and Margie Imo - purchase and donation of Piazza Imo property and ornamental gates, the Frisella Family - donation of the Italian marble fountain and Piazza design, and Tom Rea & Cathy Ruggeri-Rea - generous financial gift.
“Our mantra here on the Hill is pride,” said Alderman Joe Vollmar, who serves the Hill neighborhood. “We have pride in our church, pride in our neighborhood, and pride in our heritage. Pride is what got us here and pride is what will take us forward.”
Piazza Imo is expected to be open to the public sometime this fall.
