Fashion's Night Out

Photos By Suzy Gorman

Fashionistas did not have to sprint to the runways of New York for a top notch catwalk and glamourous evening all around. Together with the Saint Louis Fashion Fund, Neiman Marcus at Plaza Frontenac hosted the “Art of Fashion” runway show, featuring the most current items put together from corporate producers. Designers featured included Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera, Libertine, Tom Ford, Gucci and more. The event was held to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Saint Louis Fashion Fund.

As if the fashions weren’t spectacular enough, the VIP crowd included Gucci’s Daniel Day, aka “Dapper Dan,” and his son, Jelani Day. Penny Pennington and Kristin Johnson of Edward Jones co-chaired the event, and Diane Sullivan of Caleres served as Honorary Chair. Music came from DJ Chris Brown.

After a featured live auction item of custom items from the SLFF designers went for $18,000, Dapper Dan stood up and offered a custom Gucci jacket from his Harlem atelier to the highest bidder, which amounted to another $20,000 raised from the evening. Additionally, several couples took part in the “Fashion Police” theme– a concept used in other Neiman Marcus stores across the country as a way to garner funds before the actual event. Those who participated were “glamorized” by store consultants, outfitting them in designer duds of their choice and finishing the look with hair by Dominic Michael Salon.
