Saint Louis Ballet Presents "Swan Lake"
The Saint Louis Ballet will conclude its 2019-2020 season with the production of Swan Lake. With all new sets and costumes, the production features the company’s 21 professional dancers in two matinee and two evening performances to be held April 3-5 at The Touhill Performing Arts Center.
Swan Lake showcases traditional elements along with director Gen Horiuchi’s imaginative choreography. Premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow in 1877, it captures the story of princess Odette who was turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. Dance fans are drawn to the themes of transformation, of ultimate forgiveness and to the iconic choreography – especially the magical unison of the corps de ballet.
Set to an unforgettable Tchaikovsky score, Swan Lake has been presented in many versions and beloved by audiences around the globe. Saint Louis Ballet’s concluding weekend is sponsored by Centene.
Evening performances April 3 and April 4 at 7:30pm | Matinees April 4 and 5 at 2:30pm
Tickets are $25-$69 at the Touhill Box Office or call 314.516.4949 | www.touhill.org
*There will be a shorter, narrated performance April 3 at 11am. This is a first for the performance, and it is designed for children or teens/adults with shorter attention spans. With narration by Classic 107.3’s Tom Sudholdt, Swan Lake: A Shorter Tale features the same production values and caliber of dance as the full-length productions.
