St. Louis Surge Community Day Today

St. Louis' women's basketball franchise and two-time National Champions, the St. Louis Surge, is hosting Surge Community Day today. The event is taking place on what would have been their final home game of the season, hosted outside at The Collective STL in the heart of North St. Louis. The Surge organization is hosting the event in collaboration with several community partners such as Rung for WomenThe St. Louis Community Foundation, and Fit & Food Connection, and more.

The event will exclusively serve kids in partnership with Marian Middle School and Girls Inc., as well as families in the Old North neighborhood. This private registration community event is the team’s way of safely bringing the community together to do fitness, with social distancing and ensuring each attendee has a mask which will be provided.

This event is in partnership with the newly created Surge Impact Fund housed at the St. Louis Community Foundation to provide free sporting equipment for underserved kids as so many summer programs have been canceled. Minority selected vendors will be there, focusing on health and wellness with free food, a LIVE DJ, PPE supplies, and more.

When: Saturday, July 25, 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.

Where: The Collective STL: 1400 North Market Street, St. Louis, MO.

Since 2011, when owner Khalia Collier bought the team at just 23 years old, the Surge has served as St. Louis’ premier women’s basketball organization. On the court, the Surge has captured two National Championships and five Regional Championships. As St. Louis’ only professional basketball team, the Surge continuously packs the Washington University Field House with an average of 2,000 fans. They compete as a part of the Global Women's Basketball Association (GWBA).
