A Tour of 9147 Clayton Road
How many times have you driven by the old Ladue Market at Clayton and Price Roads and thought to yourself, what are they going to put in there next? Hundreds of times, probably.
But did you realize that right next door, at 9147 Clayton Road, Jerry Kerr, Jeré Fabick, and Dennis Auping are building St. Louis’ newest multi-generational, state-of-the-art luxury residence? Probably not.
Kerr, Fabick, and Auping were inspired to build this house due to their involvement with nonprofit organization Segs4Vets. With the mission of “Mobilizing America’s Heroes”, Segs4Vets focuses on the successful reintegration of veterans and first responders into their communities by creating customized mobility devices – the “segs” in Segs4Vets is short for Segway. Supporting communities from Maryland to Southern California, the organization is now focusing its efforts in St. Louis. Local partners Srote & Co., Castle Design, and R.G. Apel Development are leading this first of its kind project in Ladue. Other generous partners include Fabick Cat, Kohler, Pella, Sub Zero/Wolf, Crestron, Cosentino, Autco Home, the City of Ladue, Russo Stone and Tile, Beck/ Allen Cabinetry, DRAFT, Metro Electric, Wholesale Plumbing Supply, O’Fallon Decorating, and Sophisticated Living.
The goal of this multigenerational home is to create a space that enhances the ease of living for people of all levels of mobility – think, no pesky bumps on the floor between doorways and different rooms. Equitable use and low physical effort are amongst the seven principles of Universal Design also utilized in this house. The concept of 9147 Clayton combines elegance and accessibility for today and the future. The ability to age in place in a universally designed home will provide a lifetime of options for you and your family.
The reception for Universal Design Summit attendees is Wednesday, September 29th, from 5-7pm.
The reception for Realtors, Architects, Designers & Builders is Thursday, September 30th, beginning at 10am until 2pm, or by appointment.
Tours open to the Public on Friday and Saturday, October 1st & 2nd, from 10am – 2pm.
