Barrett Barrera Projects Announces the Acquisition of Artist Ann Ray’s Full McQueen Archive

With Fall Fashion Week starting next month, Barrett Barrera Projects’ acquisition of Ann Ray’s full McQueen Archive is both fitting and seamless.

A luminary in the fashion world, Alexander McQueen founded his own self-titled label in 1992 and went on to be chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001. His personal relationship and professional collaboration with French visual artist Ann Ray began in 1997 with their meeting at the Givenchy Ateliers in Paris and continued until his passing in 2010. Comprised of over 32, 000 prints, contact sheets, and vintage works, the collection is almost entirely unseen by the public.

Artist Ann Ray on the acquisition: “I am grateful to entrust my photographic archive to the dedicated team at Barrett Barrera Projects. The collection represents the breadth and depth of my career, including the most significant works I’ve ever produced. It brings me joy to honor my unique friendship with Lee by ensuring these works will be cared for and appreciated for years to come.”

A beautiful testament to fashion and photography, acquiring the full McQueen Archive further demonstrates Barrett Barrera Projects’ stature in the world of art and design. The acquisition includes an exhibition available for bookings internationally: https://www.barrettbarrera.com/exhibitions/ann-ray-lee-mcqueen-rendez-vous/.

In addition to the acquisition of one of the largest private collections of Alexander McQueen works in the world, Barrett Barrera Projects also owns and maintains an extensive contemporary art collection and multiple exhibition and gallery spaces, including projects+gallery and projects+exhibtions. Their main office and Barrett Barrera Guest House is located right here in St. Louis.
