2025 Starts Off HOT with Two Popular Third Friday Events at Third Degree Glass
Ceremonial glass burning in January & Valentine’s Day hot shop experience in February
Since 2002, Third Degree Glass has hosted monthly Third Friday events to amaze the St. Louis community with the art of glass blowing. What started as a simple evening with drinks and demos in the hot shop has become a themed open house event from 6-10 p.m. featuring two live glassblowing demonstrations, a flame working demo, hands-on kiln experience, premium craft cocktails & full bar, live music, raffles, food from Urban Eats vendors, and rotating seasonal activities.
The new year will start off hot with annual Third Friday themes of Reignition Jan. 17 and Hearts on Fire Feb. 21. On Jan. 17, welcome in the new year Third Degree style. Guests will be invited to write down anything they want to let go on paper, and it will be set to flames during a ceremonial burning in the hot shop. Special guest Holland Saltsman, owner of The Novel Neighbor and founder of The Noble Neighbor, will join us to help with the demo and talk shop about books and her latest partnership with The Lobby by Union Studio in the Delmar Maker District, where she curates a selection of books and hosts author events.
On Feb. 21, we’re celebrating the month of love with an exclusive date night option at Hearts on Fire. Guests can purchase tickets for an unforgettable experience with a loved one in the hot shop. For $200, receive a custom, handmade wood invitation and glass heart pendant to gift on Valentine’s Day. On Third Friday the following week, get a 30-minute private session for two with one of our skilled artists to craft a solid glass heart measuring approximately 4 in x 4 in.
Both events will feature the “Ancient Rings” exhibition by kiln artist Jim Scheller with the artist reception Jan. 17. The exhibition features a selection of vessels from a collection of more than 70, each crafted within a framework of ivory rings and made from thousands of small pieces meticulously cut from sheet glass.
