The Saint Louis Art Fair Marks 31 Years
The Saint Louis Art Fair is proud to announce its highly anticipated 31st year as it returns to the streets of downtown Clayton September 6-8, 2024. The Saint Louis Art Fair is a nationally juried fine art and fine craft show consistently ranked as one of the nation’s top fine art fairs.
“The Saint Louis Art Fair is among the most beloved summer traditions in the area, but it has truly become a St. Louis institution, as well. We are proud that since 1994, the Saint Louis Art
Fair has brought the entire region together for this incredible three-day celebration of extraordinary visual, performing, and culinary arts,” 2024 Board Chair Suzanne Dalton Kearins said. “Presenting an event of this magnitude would be impossible without the generous support of our corporate sponsors and donors, the boundless efforts of our outstanding staff and volunteers, and our invaluable partnership with the City of Clayton. On behalf of the Saint Louis Art Fair Board of Directors, I thank everyone who ensures we are able to continue offering an event of the highest caliber, while remaining admission-free for our guests.”
The 31st Art Fair will take place Friday, September 6th, 5–10 p.m.; Saturday, September 7th, 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; and Sunday, September 8th, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. The three-day celebration of art will attract thousands of art enthusiasts from across the region to downtown Clayton, which will be transformed with a myriad of original art; live musical, dance and spoken-word performances; delicious food samplings from some of the area’s premier restaurants; a special Creative Castle area with hands-on activities for children; new interactive experiences and much more. A full schedule of Art Fair features can be found at saintlouisartfair.com.
“We are incredibly excited and proud to continue the legacy of the Saint Louis Art Fair and build on last year’s 30th celebration,” Executive Director Sarah Umlauf said. This year’s vintage theme embraces the Saint Louis Art Fair’s history, while the new logo emphasizes the importance of continuing to progress alongside the time-honored tradition of being a celebration of art since 1994. The 2024 Commemorative Print was revealed to the public on Aug. 8, 2024, at the annual Kick Off Party hosted by Carrollton Bank.
As a nationally recognized event, the Saint Louis Art Fair will feature 200 artists from more than 30 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, and Argentina. These artists will display a broad array of sculptures, paintings, photography, mixed media, wearable art and more. Each year, up to 1,200 artists submit applications to be included in the Saint Louis Art Fair. As always, this year’s event will include an outstanding field of emerging artists, first-time exhibitors, returning artists and award winners who will present their original creations to art enthusiasts from across the region.

A Continuing Legacy
The Saint Louis Art Fair celebrated 30 years last September and continues to provide a unique event for the community with new experiences alongside longstanding traditions. Members of Scouting America will return this year to bring a recycling program to the event. Their efforts help lower the carbon footprint of the event and provide an educational experience for both Scouts and attendees. They will provide an opportunity for attendees to bring old American flags for retirement. They will be located in the Creative Castle area on Saturday, Sept. 7th and Sunday, Sept. 8th.
Also returning this year is the Creative Castle presented by the William T. Kemper Foundation, a robust and interactive educational arts area for children. Participants learn about the arts through hands-on, immersive experiences. The Saint Louis Art Fair, working with regional nonprofits, will offer 10 unique projects that are educational and worthwhile, focusing on children 3-12 years of age.
While creating their own masterpieces, children and their families can enjoy live entertainment on the Performing Arts Stage presented by the William T. Kemper Foundation. Dedicated to the celebration of the cultural diversity of the Greater St. Louis region, the Performing Arts Stage will feature dynamic performances in both dance and music. Attendees can also enjoy the Audi Ring Swing again. Tony Montano of Buds will be creating another floral display for this year’s Art Fair. The Clayton High School Buskers are returning and will perform at various points on the site.
