Barbie Jumps from the Silver Screen to Kids’ Hospital to the #1 Halloween Costume of 2023

Halloween season is here and of the 20 most popular costumes this year, Barbie reigns supreme.  Not only did the summer blockbuster behemoth rake in 1.3 billion dollars, it now ranks as one of history’s top 20 films.  Around town, Barbie jumped from the silver screen at the Chase, to a doll giveaway at Cardinal Glennon, to a Halloween costume party at Hotel St. Louis. A Pajama Party at 21c

21c Museum Hotel St. Louis hosted a Grand Opening Pajama Party on August 24 to celebrate the hotel’s debut. , Guests slipped into their comfiest sleepwear and enjoyed a night filled with dancing, art, a performance by the Gentlemen of Vision, and endless fun. Great Gatsby Gala Raises Funds for St. Louis County Library

Decked out in flapper finery, 225 supporters of the St. Louis County Library Federation flocked to The Reverie STL for the library’s annual fundraiser. The event included a VIP cocktail hour, along with live jazz by Harvey Lockhart and the Collective, a flapper dance demonstration by U Can Dance Studio and South Side Dance Club, a live auction, and raffles. By the end of the evening, more than $230,000 had been raised that will be used to provide community-focused programming and resources. See the party for yourself here.

Time to Show St. Louis' Tennessee Williams Some Love During Annual Festival

All year has led to September. And now, it’s curtain’s up for the annual Tennessee Williams Festival. Starting Thursday, September 7, the festival kicks into high gear and will showcase some of the work of the St. Louis Bard himself, the Pulitzer Prize-winning prolific playwright, Mr. Tennessee Williams. This spring and summer, society partygoers attended two events to raise funds to “light the stage” and continue to illuminate the genius of his work.

Jim Butler Auto Hosts Good Taste Event

On December 8th, Jim Butler Auto Group and Neiman Marcus hosted Good Taste, an evening of food and fashion to benefit Operation Food Outreach and The Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri. Local chefs Chris Bolyard of Bolyard's Meat & Provisions, Darren and Charlene Young of The Fattened Caf, Kitt Villasis-Corbin of La Patisserie, Loryn Nalic of Balkan Treat Box, Heidi Skye Hamamura of Taberu, and Neil Strasser of The Mariposa at Neiman Marcus served Maserati-inspired dishes to an enthusiastic crowd of donors. The event brought in more than $25,000 toward Jim Butler Auto Group’s $100,000 fundraising goal, including a $10,000 donation from Brad and Michelle Sowers and $2,000 from Neiman Marcus.

St. Louis Press Club's 28th Media Persons of the Year at Edward Jones was a stunning success. A number of St. Louis' extraordinary journalists were recognized for their exceptional program of work including: Debbie Monterrey, KMOX Radio, Elliott Davis of Fox 2, Joe Hollman, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Wiley Price, St. Louis American, Kay Quinn, KSDK, and the creative team of NinePBS "Living St. Louis": Jim Kirchherr, Ruth Ezell, Anne-Marie Berger, Kara Vaninger and Brooke Butler. Rene Knott of KSDK emceed the event with special performances by renowned singer and composer Brian Owens. The event was co-chaired by Press Club President Joan Berkman and Press Club Board Member Peggy Barnhart.
