Grand Opening of the City Foundry Food Hall
Here in St. Louis, one light at the end of the COVID 19 tunnel has been the pending opening of City Foundry’s Food Hall. After being pushed back and postponed for months, yesterday finally marked the official opening of the long-awaited culinary destination! Naturally, SL had to be there. And we weren’t disappointed.
The first food hall in the region, 11 eateries opened their kitchens in the shared, industrially inspired space. You could even enjoy every meal from breakfast to lunch to dinner to dessert to drinks without ever leaving the building. Though we don’t recommend that, the options the space provides are endless. Stopping by for a quick bite during the workday, making it a destination for the family on a weekend or popping in before a Cardinals or Blues game would all fulfill the craving we have had for this new and imaginative concept.
Good Day serves crêpes and breakfast sandwiches, while Press Waffle Co. creates waffles inspired by the owners’ experiences in Belgium. Step up your average sandwich game with Subdivision Sandwich Co. or try something new with a healthy, Hawaiian poke bowl from Hello Poke. If one of our dazzling vacations featured in SL doesn’t tempt you to travel, the Food Hall offers a range of international cuisine, as well. Empanadas are the highlight at Buenos Aires Café; Chez Ali brings the flavors of Senegal and Cote d’Ivorie to the Midwest; Kalbi Taco Shack blends Mexican and Asian cuisine into tacos, burritos, and more; Turmeric Street Style has roots in the Tamli Nadu province of India and is home to some of the spiciest and most aromatic food you’ll ever taste. Let your sweet tooth be satisfied by Patty’s Cheesecakes or with popsicles and soft serve from Poptimism (my favorite “meal” of the day is dessert, and I was not disappointed with either eatery). Finally, top it all off with a drink from Kitchen Bar… cheers! New kitchens are set to open in the coming weeks, including Intergalactic Burgers, Fordo’s Pizza and more - we love an excuse to come back.
If the food itself doesn’t convince you to make an appearance, go to be a part of something that all of St. Louis can be inspired by. The Food Hall brings a new energy to Midtown which will undoubtedly spill over into the rest of St. Louis ... you don't want to miss it. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served starting at 8am, 7 days a week. Click here for more information on the Food Hall and City Foundry.
