Winter Show 2024 Featured Artist ken konchel
This year's “Special Guest” Featured Artist is the incomparable Ken Konchel with a new grouping of his highly sought-after photographs.
Their Lower Gallery space will present a solo exhibition of his work.
“As a photographer, I am drawn to the expressive power of buildings. Provocatively capturing architecture in an abstract, graphic way keenly interests me.” said Konchel He went on to say, “My intention is to make compelling photographs that remove the context and distill architecture to nothing but relationships of shape, line, pattern, form, detail, tone, and texture.”
“I aim to photograph buildings in arresting ways, creating compositions that do not immediately reveal themselves as architecture. Buildings present rich opportunities for me to imaginatively explore the angle, the cube, the curve, the triangle, and the rectangle. By examining these forms individually or grouping them into unconventional configurations, I aspire to challenge and captivate people by introducing them to architecture’s intriguing visual possibilities. I strive to take photographs that disclose their content in layers of meaning that are more richly rewarded with repeated viewings.”
This exhibition is hosted by Houska Gallery, 4728 McPherson, STL, 63108. They welcome your visit during regular business hours, Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 4 pm, or private viewing by appointment.
