Tempus Restaurant + James Beard Foundation
On June 2 and 3, 2022, Tempus restaurant hosted two unique dinners in support of the James Beard Foundation’s Open for Good initiatives, providing critical resources to help independent restaurants build the capacity to come back stronger, more equitable, more sustainable, and more resilient. This mission that JBF celebrates and is committed to, is deeply aligned with the narrative that Tempus created from inception, which further includes values focused on dismantling the inequities within our industry and our community, and one of the core reasons that they feel so passionately about collaborating with the foundation. Money raised from ticket sales helped provide critical financial support to Open for Good initiatives so that JBF can host chefs at their Chefs Bootcamps for Policy Advocacy and Change; Empower and Train Women Entrepreneurs through their Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Fellowship with Cornell University; provide professional development and mentorship training for the BIPOC culinary community via the year-long Legacy Network Training program; engage their Smartcatch Sustainable Seafood program and training for chefs; underwrite industry webinars and summits; Fund opportunities for Scholarship Recipients, Beard House Fellows and other trainees to engage in industry events.
As a restaurant focused on high quality, inventive food and beverage, coupled with a commitment to genuine hospitality, thoughtful service, and giving back to the community, the team at Tempus created an all-encompassing, one-of-a-kind, evening for the community to gather and enjoy a curated multi-course dinner experience, all while supporting a standard of food culture honored both by Tempus and James Beard Foundation.
